Conférence : "Virtual Tibet (A Work in Progress)"

À propos de la conférence

Christopher Helland’s presentation will examine the developing and changing nature of the online activity of the Tibetan community in exile. Situating the talk around concepts of “digital diaspora,” Helland will focus on the development of the online religious activity of the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama as a significant force within the community for maintaining connectedness and also presenting the tradition and its story to those outside of the community.  With the shifting nature of the online world in relation to Covid lockdowns, algorithms and disinformation, the online activity of the Tibetan diaspora community continues to develop and remains an important work in progress for maintaining connection and identity in an increasingly digital world.
