Conférence : "Chinese calendrical spirits propitiated Tibetan style: the sadak (sa bdag) and the Bön religion"

À propos de la conférence

Research on the Collection of [rites dedicated to] the Sadak (sa bdag 'bum), a unique Bön text in its canonical collection, enable researchers to document the transmission in Tibet of a Chinese calendrical system with its associated spirits. The collection contains myths and names of the spirits that can be readily identified in relevant Daoist texts. These conceded borrowings, however, are not reflected in the methods of propitiation described in several of its chapters. This presentation examines the Collection of the Sadak, some of its myths, pantheon and ritual, and offers explanations on why this tradition might have been important in late Imperial and possibly Medieval Tibet.
